Verse 1
Our parents always tell us never tell a lie.
We say we always do as we are told;
But are we being truthful when we say such things?
Or is the truth not in us? His example do we show?
Refrain:
He is truthful, He’s always truthful.
His promises are sacred, this we know.
He promised He would never, ever leave us all alone;
We feel His love no matter where we go.
Verse 2
We fail him every time we disobey His will.
He promised to redeem us and forgive.
Sometimes He’ll find us hiding for the sins we’ve done.
It breaks His heart to see the way we often want to live.
Back to refrain:
Bridge:
When the world descends upon you with it’s pressures and it’s lies,
What are you going to do to win the fight?
Just look to His example, take His promises to heart,
He’ll show you how to make it turn out right.

Eternal (Song of God's eternal love for us)-Written for Children
Verse 1
Many people come and go as we journey through this life.
And we realize how short the time we share.
But there’s one who’s always with us and will be there when we’re gone.
He’s forever, He’s eternal, and he cares.
Refrain:
He’s eternal, (echo) He’s eternal
And He loves us, (echo) And He loves us.
He invites us to eternity on high.
From the moment we receive Him our eternal lives begin
And we know our spirit never, ever dies.
Verse 2
What a comfort just to know that he’s always, always there;
That He guides us in our travel through this life.
We’ve a long way yet to journey as we start our lives, so new
We’re His children and we’re precious in His sight.
Back to refrain:
Bridge:
He’s eternal, He’s eternal, He’s eternal ever more
He was there before the start; and He’ll be there when all is done.
He’s eternal, He’s eternal, He’s eternal, praise His name
As an everlasting guide, He is the one.

A Wedding Song (Pocahantas sings to John Rolf at their wedding)- History
Here I am, dancing in the night; your love has made me giddy as a girl
It’s too late, no need for me to fight, for love has come to me across the world
Here I am, but what am I to do? My feelings, they are running to and fro.
Since I gave my loving heart to you, I sing for joy for now true love I know.
Refrain:
This is my wedding song to you, my love,
And the Great Spirit smiles upon us here.
With body, soul and mind
I think that you will find
That I do love you, have no fear.
Here you are, sitting, watching me with devotion and with heart-felt love.
To all here, it’s very plain to see; my spirit soars on wings just like a dove.
Here I dance, and though I know they’re here, our people are like spirits in the night.
I see you, and only you, my dear; your face a-glowing in the pale moon light.

To Be Free to Laugh and Love (Song of Judith's Slave) - History
York's beloved happens to be Judith Handcock's personal slave who notices the happiness on Judith's face in anticipation of William Clark's arrival. Her slave sings this song when she is finally left alone in her thoughts about how she would love to be as happy as Judith.
How happy she looks, how excited she seems
I feel her sweet joys and share in her dreams.
How nice it would be to have joys of my own
To cherish as memories for the time I am grown.
Just look how she moves, as free as a bird.
She goes where she wants without saying a word.
A reason to dance is all that I need,
But before I can have it, I have to be free.
(Refrain)
O, to be free to laugh and love!
O, that my soul could fly like a dove!
O, that my heart could leap with delight
Into a world where freedom’s a right!
(Tag for repeat of refrain)
I’ll pray for my freedom tonight!
(Bridge)
Someday I will be on my own
To travel wherever winds blow.
Someday, soon, I’ll shout out with glee
That my country’s finally free.
(Repeat refrain with tag)

To Love and Laugh and Live (Judith's song of anticipation) - History
Judith Hancock was the beloved of William Clark. He promised to propose to her when he returned from one of his journeys. She sings this song in anticipation of his coming.
This waiting is making me shiver.
It’s driving me almost insane,
My soul wants to leap and quiver;
This anticipation’s a pain.
I’m trying to picture his face,
His eyes, how they pierced my soul!
But soon all these pictures will fade.
I just want him here to hold.
(Refrain)
All I ever really want is to laugh and love and live;
All I ever really need is to feel his arms around me;
All I ever want to do is to kiss his lips and to give
All the love I have to offer him so free.
(Bridge)
How long can my heart keep this pace
With the excitement I’m feeling inside?
How long can I picture his face
As I’m standing with him as his bride?
This waiting is making me shiver.
It’s driving me almost insane,
My soul wants to leap and quiver;
This anticipation’s a pain.
I’m trying to picture his face,
His eyes, how they pierced my soul!
But soon all these pictures will fade.
I just want him here to hold.
(Refrain)
All I ever really want is to laugh and love and live;
All I ever really need is to feel his arms around me;
All I ever want to do is to kiss his lips and to give
All the love I have to offer him so free.

We Will All Be Free Someday (Song of the town drunk) - History
The town drunk sometimes hears things he shouldn't hear. In this case, he hears that a slave has escaped but he knows better. He knows that a certain local plantation owner has been been secretly releasing slaves at a rate of one a year. He has sworn himself to secrecy and nothing will persuade him to reveal who it is. However, under the influence of alcohol, that vow may not be so easy to keep.
I have a secret that I’ll never tell;
Though you torture me and pull my toenails out.
You could break my arms and pull my teeth but I will never yell;
This secret’s safe with me, without a doubt.
(Takes a drink)
Refrain:
We will all be free some day!
We will all be free some day
To reveal what we believe
That our country really needs.
We will all be free some day.
(Takes a drink)
I have a secret I might never tell;
Though you yell at me or fill my mouth with dirt.
You could pull my hair or tie me up but I will never sell
My secret news for any thing on earth.
(Takes another big drink)
(Back to refrain)
(Takes another big drink)
I have a secret that I’d like to keep
Though you call me names and offer me a drink.
If you scolded me and railed at me, then I might see a need;
But until then my lips are sealed, I think.
(Another drink)
(Back to refrain)
(Takes another big drink)
I have a secret I can’t wait to tell
And I’ll tell it all to anyone I meet
When I’m full of wine and alcohol I tend to feel unwell,
And I often tilt and end up off my feet.
(Another drink)

Tomorrow Will Be a New Day (Love song by York) - History
Tomorrow Will Be a New Day
(York’s love song)
York was a slave of William Clark who accompanied him in his travels. York sings this love song to a slave girl with whom he has fallen in love. He sings to her just before his departure with Clark.
“I’ll be back before you know it,” is an easy thing to say
But can be much, much harder when love is in the way.
In matters of our country, a year is very near.
In matters of the heart we find that an hour’s like a year.
So what am I to say when I leave this place?
What kind of truth do I give her, until again I see her face?
Refrain:
Tomorrow will be a new day
And every day thereafter will be like jewels along your way;
A rain drop here, a snow flake there, a fire- fly taking flight
Will be collected by your memories as I leave this place tonight.
Hold them ‘til I return, love.
And use them all as decorations as they are jewels from above.
Display them here, display them there on our very special night
And let them guide us in our journey in our life as man and wife.
(Bridge)
I will return, love, please wait for me.
Then we’ll be wed, love, eternally.
